stephen king is hit or miss but salem's lot was good. so was the shining.
i enjoyed poe and lovecraft's weird-ass shit as a kid. they read kind of dated, though. and watch out for lovecraft's ridiculous descriptions. at the mountains of madness or any of his innsmouth stuff. hell, those innsmouth anthologies by other writers are usually ok.
